History Comes Alive is back!

The Dorchester County Historical Society at La Grange Plantation has announced the return of this interactive history education series.  The first one of the 2011 – 2012 school year is scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2011, beginning at 10 am and is titled The American Civil War.  The program will last about two hours.

Children aged 6 – 12 will engage first in setting up a military camp site.  Then, they will  take part in basic Civil War exercises and learn about weapons, uniforms and camp food of the era.

This series was launched in 2009 and has continued to grow.  Its innovative approach allows a wide range of age groups to participate in a meaningful fashion.  Education leader David Reitz coordinates all programs with an eye toward Dorchester County history.

This series is free and open to the public on a first come, first serve basis.  To  reserve your youngster’s spot please call 410.228.7953 or email dchs@verizon.net.  The Dorchester County Historical Society is located at 1003 Greenway Drive (off of Maryland Avenue East) in Cambridge, Maryland.
